How to Vote in the New Whangarei District Council System
- You’re now asked to rank every candidate in your ward — but this can result in UNWANTED candidates getting in, due to how votes are counted.
- To avoid this:
- ✅ Only rank the candidates you want elected
- ❌ Leave blank the ones you don’t want elected
- Example List of 5 Random Candidates: Paulie, Mark, Joe, Arthur, Ralf
- SAY: you want Joe first, then Anne, then Mark — then You Rank Them 1, 2, 3:
- 1 = Joe 2 = Rachel 3 = Mark / Don't want = BLANK
- AND: You don’t want Paulie and Arthur – Then You LEAVE THEM BLANK DON’T HELP THEM GET ELECTED:
